Subject: 24.3.50; (emacs) `File Registers' typo: ?R should be R
Date: Sun, 27 Jan 2013 09:27:15 -0800
In all of the register sections of the Emacs manual, this
convention is used:

"Each register has a name that consists of a single character,
which we will denote by R" - (emacs) `Registers'

In `File Registers' there is this text:

Here's the Lisp code used to put a file name in a register:

     (set-register ?R '(file . NAME))

 For example,

     (set-register ?z '(file . "/gd/gnu/emacs/19.0/src/ChangeLog"))

The part before the example is a mismash, a mix of
specification/template and literal example. For it to serve as a
specification (template), `?R' needs to be corrected to `R'.
For extra clarity, the accompanying text can say, e.g.:

"Here's the Lisp code used to put file NAME into register R:"

(FILE would be better than NAME, here, BTW.)

These changes will bring this node in line with the others of section
`Registers'.
