"*Non-nil means that CPerl uses `font-lock's routines for syntaxification."

is missing a close quote:

"*Non-nil means that CPerl uses `font-lock''s routines for syntaxification."

(Unless I have overlooked a convention for eliding a close quote when
it is followed by an apostrophe. But lower down in the same file I
find:

Newer `font-lock's can do it themselves.

which suggests that the extra quote is needed in the first case above
to distinguish it from the second.)

I've now rewritten this to avoid the possessive "s".
