I am not running emacs 24, but noticed what I believe is a typo
in the NEWS on savannah (referenced in emacs-devel)

102671 	** The command `just-one-space' (C-SPC), if given a negative argument,
        also deletes newlines around point.

At least in emacs 23 `just-one-space' is M-SPC not C-SPC, which is
set-mark-command
