Type of bug: Incompleteness in language autodetection

Symptoms:
'libtool --mode=3Dlink mpif90 ...' or 'libtool --mode=3Dlink mpicc ...' =20
etc. fails with
libtool: link: unable to infer tagged configuration
libtool: link: specify a tag with `--tag'

Why this is a bug of libtool:
While it is possible to work around this behavior by using --tag=3DFC or =20
- --tag=3DCC in the buildsystem, the Makefiles are the wrong place to fix =20
this problem because mpicc etc. work like normal compilers and, as =20
such, should be recognized by libtool.

I know that it was not the best idea to invent the mpi*-wrappers for =20
the compilers in the first place, but we're stuck with them. And our =20
tools should be able to handle MPI-Compilers, seeing that their usage =20
is a must in high performance computing.
