don't say
=E2=80=98-r FILE=E2=80=99
     True if FILE exists and read permission is granted.

=E2=80=98-w FILE=E2=80=99
     True if FILE exists and write permission is granted.

=E2=80=98-x FILE=E2=80=99
     True if FILE exists and execute permission is granted (or search
     permission, if it is a directory).

Say ... "is X-able by the current user."
Same on the ls man page.

Else you are not being clear if this is just testing if a certain bit
has been set, vs. something to do with the current user vs. the file owne=
r!
