In (info "(elisp) Mode Line Top") and (info "(elisp) Mode Line
Variables"), `which-func-mode' are used as examples. But this function
is obsolete since 24.1.

A good question. I don't see the point to rename the toggle command to
which-function-mode and still have everything else under a which-func-
prefix.
The motivation for making the alias obsolete was hardly compelling IMO.
