What type of disklabel is it? If it is GPT then primary, etc. isn't
used. We should figure out how to make this clearer in the docs.

I guess we should change the man page.. gpt takes [name] rather than
part-type.  Most other partition types besides msdos also don't take
part-type ( and I don't think most of them even support the optional
name ).

Also FYI Brian, debbugs does not send all messages to the bug back to
the submitter.  You either need to explicitly cc them ( reply-to-all
works for this when replying to the original submitter ), or change
nnnn@debbugs to nnnn-submitter@debbugs.
