Message #5 received at submit <at> debbugs.gnu.org (full text, mbox):
Hello,
right now I tried out the ghb binary from our handbrake package.
It starts, but shows no icons. Even after installing adwaita-icon-theme,
nothing changes. Do I do anything wrong, or is there a bug in the package?
Also, there is a scary warning that gstreamer could not be initialised
(see the abbreviated output of the command below).
Thanks for your help,
Andreas

You did nothing wrong. This is the current state of the ghb GUI, unfortunately. I got less than no help from the Handbrake developers the last time I tried to fix it. It's possible the package is just missing the right image decider plugin.
The gstreamer warning has not caused a problem for me before, but would obviously be nice to fix.
I think there's a version upgrade available. Might be a good time to visit that and these issues together.

I had a look before, wondering whether this would be an option to make the
package compile again, but upgrading is more complicated than just changing
the source. So in the end I took the path of least resistance and downgraded
the ffmpeg input...

I just ran the current version of Handbrake in Guix and can see icons,
so it may be that this has been fixed elsewhere or through upgrades.
Would you mind testing again please to see if this is fixed for you?

Ben

I just tested and can see the icons as well without doing anything
special. Given that this is now a two-year old bug, I'll be closing it;
if someone encounters this again, please reopen.
Thanks,
