Subject: SES cursor control

SES cusor control is not working.  When viewing a spreadsheet the cursor
movement keys should move from cell to cell.

The up and down keys seem to work but the left to right keys move the
cursor character by character.

I recently upgraded to:
lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release:        18.04
Codename:       bionic

This behavior surfaced after the upgrade. Emacs version installed by ubuntu:

/usr/bin/emacs --version
GNU Emacs 25.2.2

I downloaded the source code for 26.1, compiled and installed to
/usr/local. SES coninued to misbehave.

I Downloaded 25.3; compiled and executed emacs from the src
directory. SES still not right.

I went to my laptop, (Ubuntu 16.04 codename xenial) and noted first the
SES works and second emacs version 24.5.1.

Back at my desktop, I downloads 24.5; the compilation failed and I gave
up.

I cannot reproduce this. Do you see this in a GUI frame or in a TTY
frame?

Works fine for me on RHEL 7.5 with Emacs 25.2 and 26.1.
Tested with:

emacs -Q etc/ses-example.ses

Perhaps this is your problem. Did you try with "emacs -Q"?

Thank you.  I tried emacs -Q and rename /home/dalyw/lisp/ses
