Subject: 26.1; emacs-w3m no longer works
Date: Tue, 08 Jan 2019 11:25:42 -0500
When using vm to read mail in emacs, if the message has HTML mail, I get
the message
Inline text/html by emacs-w3m display failed: (wrong-type-argument stringp nil)
in the minibuffer. Moreover, only the HTML source of the message
appears in the presentation buffer.

Note that this all worked up through last Friday. I haven't changed my
emacs configuration since then, but we did upgrade from Fedora 28 to
Fedora 29.

VM is not part of GNU Emacs or ELPA.
W3 is in GNU ELPA, but AFAICS is broken and unmaintained for years, ref

https://debbugs.gnu.org/25395#24

I would suggest you report this to the upstreams of these projects in
the first instance, and followup here if it turns out to be a core Emacs
issue.

Sorry, I mixed up w3 and w3m (not for the first time).
w3m is not in GNU ELPA.

So again, I suggest reporting this to whoever maintains those projects.

emacs-w3m and its Gnus integration (setq mm-text-html-renderer 'w3m)
works normally, so I'd guess this is VM problem, and should be reported
there.

Since this is not a problem in Emacs, I'm closing this as notabug.
