1. start emacs -Q
2. eval below code.
(progn
  (setq resize-mini-windows nil)
  (read-file-name
   (make-string (frame-width) ?Z)))
3. Hit TAB twice.

Minibuffer shows message such as "[Args out og range: 82, 82]" and
completion list never appears.
