I didn't look at the bug report, but my older machine (from around 2010)
was able to build it, but newer, more powerful machines were not, with
the same error as you got.

Is the 2.x series compatible with the 1.x series? I see we have 1.3 and
1.4 is about 2 years old, while 2.3 was released last month.

Considering Guix revision b17268b (April 2025, sorry for the late
notification), the package volk is 3.0.0 and builds.

Therefore, closing.  Feel free to reopen if I’m missing something.
