VC-log helpful modeline information not adapting to scope

To add a comment to this bug, you must first unarchive it, by sending
a message to control AT debbugs.gnu.org, with unarchive 45007 in the body.
You can then email your comments to 45007 AT debbugs.gnu.org in the normal way.

Toggle the display of automated, internal messages from the tracker.

Hello Buglist

In the emacs repo, say, visiting INSTALL.REPO

C-x v l (vc-print-log)

gives me a log and a helpful message on the mode-line:

Git-Log-View from INSTALL.REPO

Helpful because indeed it logs changes that touch INSTALL.REPO.

Visiting the same file again and

C-x v L (vc-print-root-log)

Shows the same message in the log buffer and it seems less helpful
because now I see the log for the root of the repo.

It has been seen in emacs master from April.

I've now fixed this in Emacs 29.
