Subject: [PATCH] import: Remove Nix importer.
Date: Sun, 18 Apr 2021 15:44:58 +0200
This importer has suffered from bitrot and no longer works with current
Nix and Nixpkgs. See <https://bugs.gnu.org/32339> and
<https://bugs.gnu.org/36255>.

* guix/import/snix.scm, guix/scripts/import/nix.scm,
tests/snix.scm: Remove.
* Makefile.am (MODULES, SCM_TESTS): Remove them.
* guix/scripts/import.scm (importers): Remove "nix".
* build-aux/test-env.in: Remove NIXPKGS variable.
* configure.ac: Remove '--with-nixpkgs' option.
* doc/guix.texi (Invoking guix import): Remove bit about "guix import
nix".
* etc/completion/fish/guix.fish: Likewise.

Hi!

I think we should stop making false promises about this importer,
so here we go. I think it’s OK to apply during string freeze
because it removes text without changing existing text.

Did you know that this code is actually the oldest piece of code
in Guix? It was initially part of ‘gnupdater’, a script I had
written to update GNU package definitions in Nixpkgs. Technically,
it even predates Guix by one or two years. :-)

Ludo’.
