[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
I have pressed M-& to run the game "bumbrace" and after finishing the
game, I could see the messages:

Mark set
** Video mode set **
** Loading Data **
** Main data loaded **
** Racer selected **
** Racer data loaded **
Awaiting SDL_Quit()
SDL_Quit() finished.

while fonts disappeared. Interesting is that fonts did not disappear on
the all screen of Emacs but just in 2 columns, you may see "PDF" still
being displayed.

If you go to one of those places where "fonts disappeared", and press
"C-u C-x =", what does Emacs display in the *Help* buffer that it pops
up?

Is that a game commonly available on Linux systems? A bit of googling
didn't reveal anything.

Game name is bumprace

Description : Arcade Game. You've to get from the start to the finish line without crashing into deadly blocks
URL             : http://www.linux-games.com/bumprace/

I tried running bumprace from the command line in Debian/bookworm, and
it messed up all the display settings so badly that I had to reboot the
laptop.

So I think what you're seeing may just be the effects of a very bad
program.

I was under impression that Emacs should not be affected by other
programs.

If another program messes up the entire OS, then Emacs cannot not be
affected.

So I guess there isn't much to be done on the Emacs side of things, and
I'm closing this bug report.
