sort.el doesn't seem to have any sort --unique functionality.

One needs to use
C-u M-x shell-command-on-region "sort -u"

Well, might as well use sort(1) for everything then...

There's `delete-duplicate-lines' that can be used to post-process the
output of `sort-lines' (etc), so I don't think sort.el needs to support
a -u thing, and I'm closing this bug report.
