Subject: 27.1; seg fault using utf8 char in text
Date: Tue, 6 Dec 2022 16:34:18 +0100
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
--text follows this line--

When using emacs with X, it crashes when it should display the utf8 char: ∗
In terminal mode, no crash appears.

Just generate a file with this utf8 char in it and make emacs display it
in the normal view.
As long as the char is not visible, the emacs is fine.

Please generate your own debugging log. The debian version seems not to
contain any useful debug symbols...

No crash here, neither in Emacs 27.1 nor in the what will soon be Emacs 29.

I visited the file you attached.

It's U+2217.

Did you try using a different font, or forcing a non-default font backend?

And which version of HarfBuzz do you have installed?
