This is the documented behavior: =E2=80=98manifest.scm=E2=80=99 and =E2=80= =98guix.scm=E2=80=99 are read only for interactive use, meaning without =E2=80=98--=E2=80=99: https://guix.gnu.org/manual/devel/en/html_node/Invoking-guix-shell.html The rationale for it is that non-interactive uses of =E2=80=98guix shell=E2= =80=99 would always be self-contained. This was arguably a very conservative choice but I=E2=80=99m not sure we can change it at this stage. Thoughts? Ludo=E2=80=99.
