I built the latest Emacs from the master branch on Windows using MinGW64.
The issue is that remote files (on RHEL9) opened via Tramp (e.g., /sshx:remote:~/somefile) are not recognized as being under Git version control.
Started with emacs -q.

Specifically:
- The branch name is not displayed in the mode line.
- vc-print-root-log returns the error: "vc-deduce-fileset: File is not under version control."
Note that this issue does not occur with local files; they are recognized correctly.

The issue seems to have been introduced by the commit below.
Everything works fine after reverting it.
